The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of selected RYOBI electric pressure washers on August 28, 2025. The action covered approximately 764,000 units in the United States, with another 16,000 sold in Canada.

According to the official recall notice, a capacitor inside the machine can overheat and burst, forcefully ejecting parts. That creates an impact-injury hazard for the person operating the washer and anyone nearby. The recall is therefore tied to an internal electrical component rather than the normal pressure of water leaving the nozzle.

The affected models are RY142300, RY142300VNM and RY142711VNM within specified serial-number ranges. Owners need to check both identifiers against the notice. The model and serial information appear on a data plate on the side of the motor housing, allowing the relevant configuration to be distinguished from other RYOBI pressure washers.

CPSC instructed consumers to stop using recalled units and contact TTI Outdoor Power Equipment for a free repair kit. The notice provides the detailed ranges and remedy procedure. For equipment already in a garage, rental inventory or maintenance fleet, checking the identification plate is the practical first step before returning a potentially affected washer to service.
