Dyson introduced PencilVac on May 21, 2025, placing a compact motor and dust-handling system inside a cordless vacuum with a 38 mm body. The product announcement focused on reducing the size of the main assembly while retaining a dedicated powered cleaning head.

The Fluffycones head uses four conical rollers intended to release long hair as the machine cleans. Their shape directs hair away from the rollers, addressing the maintenance involved when strands wrap around a conventional brush. Dyson also described illumination at both the front and rear of the head to help reveal dust when moving in different directions.

A compact Hyperdymium motor powers the machine, while a linear dust-separation system manages the material collected from the floor. The overall arrangement changes both the handle profile and the cleaning head, rather than simply shortening a familiar stick-vacuum body. The announced functions are Dyson's description of the product design.

PencilVac performs dry vacuuming. Its slim appearance and name should be distinguished from the later PencilWash wet floor cleaner, which uses a different cleaning system. The May 2025 announcement establishes the PencilVac introduction; release dates, accessories and offers for subsequent Pencil-branded products belong to their own regional announcements.
