RockAqua P1 brings Roborock into cordless pool cleaning. The European product preview emphasizes shallow platforms, complex pool shapes and visible debris detection. These are useful questions for a pool owner whose existing cleaner misses a sun shelf or needs frequent rescue. They are also more specific buying considerations than the brand’s experience with indoor vacuums.

This is a preview-based buying guide, not a WCB hands-on review. As checked on September 10, 2026, the European page still points to a future full reveal. The IFA lineup establishes the announcement context, but it does not provide a local delivery commitment. This page keeps the unanswered purchase questions visible so an announced feature is not mistaken for an available, tested capability.

Measure the shelf, not just the pool

A shallow-area claim refers to water above the platform, not the pool’s deepest point. Record the shelf depth at your normal water level, its width, the approach angle and nearby ledges. A cleaner may need enough space to turn and a suitable route onto the shelf. A useful dealer demonstration should reproduce those details rather than show only a wide, flat test platform.

Match the debris to the collection system

Leaves, gritty sediment and floating debris create different jobs. Basket volume can reduce interruptions during a leaf fall, while filter condition affects how water passes through the cleaner. An advertised flow rate does not describe what remains after a complete cycle. For a meaningful comparison, look at corners, settled sand and the amount left on the shelf after the robot finishes.

Retrieval belongs in the buying decision

Automatic parking may reduce reaching into deep water, but the final lift remains a physical task. Check the height of your pool coping, where you can stand and where the machine will drain. A promise of quick drainage does not reveal its dry carrying weight. If lifting is difficult, wait for that missing measurement and a demonstration before assuming retrieval will be comfortable.

A pool with a troublesome sun shelf: P1 is a relevant model to follow, provided the regional depth specification matches your pool. Ask for confirmation using a simple sketch and measurements. The ability to approach, clean and leave the platform matters more than the minimum-depth headline alone.

A pool with frequent floating leaves: compare the explicit surface-cleaning functions on Aiper Scuba V3 Ultra and Beatbot Sora 70. Waterline scrubbing works on a different part of the pool. Do not assume P1 replaces a surface skimmer until that function is documented for the retail model.

An owner who needs a replacement immediately: prioritize confirmed local stock, a return policy that permits a practical trial, and access to consumables. A forthcoming product may eventually fit better, but an unspecified release date cannot solve an immediate cleaning gap. Compare the total delivered package instead of a speculative launch price.

The European preview states a 15 cm shallow-water capability; the US IFA page says 8 inches. Those figures are materially different. This guide records both without guessing whether the cause is regional hardware, test conditions or an evolving announcement. Use the regional manual and written seller confirmation when they become available.

The same caution applies to warranty and service links. Roborock’s garden website also covers lawnmowers, and a lawnmower policy does not automatically establish pool-robot coverage. Confirm the exact P1 model identifier, local service provider, supported pool materials and water conditions before comparing an imported offer with a domestic one.

The practical ownership questions are access to the basket, filter rinsing, brush inspection, drying and charging. The preview does not yet establish a complete P1 maintenance procedure or replacement intervals. Treat these as points to verify in the final manual, rather than applying instructions from a different brand or another Roborock product.

Ask for replacement filter and brush prices alongside the machine quotation. A large basket still needs emptying, and fine debris can restrict a filter before the basket looks full. Plan a convenient place to inspect and rinse the collection components according to the supplied instructions. Pool-water treatment also remains a separate responsibility; mechanical debris collection does not establish sanitation performance.

The strongest reason to follow P1 is a specific unmet cleaning task, particularly shallow areas and awkward pool geometry. Keep measurements and a short list of problem spots ready for the full reveal. A purchase decision should wait for a regional specification, credible delivery date and complete ownership documentation. That evidence will make a later comparison far more useful than ranking three robots by pump flow alone.
