Electrolux and Midea announced agreements on April 23, 2026 to establish three joint ventures in North America. The partnership announcement combined manufacturing cooperation with a commercial venture, using different ownership arrangements for the separate operations.

The proposed refrigerator sales venture would be owned equally by the two groups. Midea would hold 65% of the refrigerator manufacturing venture associated with the Juárez plant in Mexico, while Electrolux would hold 55% of the laundry manufacturing venture associated with Anderson in the United States. The structure therefore covered both production capacity and access to the market.

Electrolux presented the arrangement as a long-term partnership intended to support growth and innovation. Its initial announcement also anticipated a significant non-recurring accounting impact in the second quarter. That expected charge was part of the transaction's financial treatment, rather than a statement of the future ventures' annual operating profit.

The April announcement established signed agreements and the intended operating structure. It did not mean all three businesses were functioning under the new arrangement that day. Implementation and the start of operations were separate steps, with later updates required to establish their timing. The partnership concerns defined appliance businesses rather than a merger of the two parent companies.
