The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of selected BISSELL Steam Shot OmniReach and Omni steam-cleaner attachments on April 9, 2026. Approximately 1.7 million units were sold in the United States, with another 96,000 in Canada.

The attachments can separate unexpectedly during operation and release hot water or steam, creating a burn hazard. BISSELL reported 206 incidents involving escaping water or steam, including 161 reports of burns. The recall concerns the identified attachments and models, rather than every steam cleaner sold by the brand.

Affected machines include specified 4155- and 4171-series models, with the complete suffix list in the CPSC recall notice. Owners can find the model number on the rating label underneath the unit. Products were sold through major retailers and online from October 2024 through March 2026.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled attachments and register through BISSELL's official recall program for free replacements. The notice explains how to identify the affected accessories and submit the required disposal photograph. The remedy is a replacement-attachment program; owners should follow those instructions rather than assume that a different accessory or a similarly named model is covered.
