BISSELL Names Adam Madigan Chief Executive Officer
The 22 September announcement set 1 October as the effective date.
News date:

BISSELL named Adam Madigan as chief executive officer in an announcement dated September 22, 2026. His appointment took effect on October 1, moving the company's president and chief operating officer into the top executive role.
Madigan joined BISSELL in 2012 and had spent 14 years in the business. His earlier responsibilities included hard-surface products and sales and marketing, before he became president and COO in 2025. Before joining the floorcare company, he worked in marketing and supply-chain roles at Procter & Gamble.
The leadership announcement also clarified the continuing role of the Bissell family. Mark Bissell, who left the CEO position in September 2025, remains executive chairman. Max Bissell continues as president of global product and reports to Madigan.
The transition comes as the family-owned business marks its 150th year. BISSELL described the appointment as a move to support future product development while retaining continuity in leadership. For the cleaning industry, the immediate change is the allocation of executive responsibilities: day-to-day leadership passes to a longtime internal executive, while family members remain involved in the company's direction and product organization.
