What is new in the LiDAX Ultra range

MOVA introduced the LiDAX Ultra series in its 2026 launch programme. The 1000’s proposition is a lawn robot that builds its surroundings with LiDAR and vision without requiring a perimeter wire or a separately installed RTK station. That is a setup choice, not proof that every lawn will be easier to map.

The launch announcement covers several area ratings. It does not establish one universal predecessor for every regional 1000 listing. This guide therefore treats the product as a new range and explains the buying difference rather than inventing a precise upgrade percentage over an older model.

WCB assessment: the strongest reason to change from a working mower is a setup or navigation problem that LiDAR can address in your garden. If the present mower already follows the lawn reliably, a change should also offer a worthwhile improvement in capacity, finish or service support.

Core features in everyday use

Mapping without a perimeter-wire project

Avoiding a buried wire changes installation effort, but it does not remove the job of defining the lawn. Walk the generated boundary and inspect flower beds, drop-offs, temporary furniture and narrow side paths. A tidy first map is more useful than the shortest advertised setup time. Recheck it when planting grows or garden furniture moves.

LiDAR and vision around real garden obstacles

The combination provides an alternative to relying on a local satellite-positioning base. Reflective surfaces, overhanging plants and a tight route around raised beds are still practical test cases. Assess the mower where the garden is awkward, not only across the open centre. Clear small loose objects and keep people and animals out of the working area according to the manual.

Rear-wheel drive and a finite mowing window

This 1000 is a rear-wheel-drive model. Its slope rating must not be confused with AWD advertising elsewhere in the LiDAX family. Turning, wet grass and travelling across a slope can be more demanding than moving straight up a dry demonstration incline. If traction is the main concern, have the site assessed before choosing on price.

Edge reach that depends on the boundary

A disc that moves closer to an edge can reduce the strip left behind. A wall, flush paving and an elevated flower-bed border do not present the same clearance. Inspect the finished border and estimate the remaining manual trimming. A small reduction can still be useful, but a “close cut” claim should not be read as zero work along every fence.

Where it fits — and where to look elsewhere

  • A modest, mostly accessible lawn: a sensible shortlist case if the mapping limit and available mowing hours leave room for bad weather and growth peaks.
  • Tree cover and an inconvenient RTK location: test the actual shaded passages and mapping stability. Removing an antenna requirement does not guarantee an error-free garden.
  • Two separated grass areas: confirm the carrying route and how the second saved map is selected. A dual-map feature cannot open a gate or cross an unsuitable path.
  • Steep or uneven ground: compare with an AWD option and evaluate traction, turning and safe boundaries. Do not use the motor specification as a substitute for a site check.

Versions and market differences

The US non-AWD 1000 listing is the reference for this profile. Its 0.25-acre mapping limit, cutting-height range and battery should not be exchanged with the specifications of the 2000, an AWD model or another regional 1000 package.

The European launch price and the later US campaign price below refer to different markets and dates. Compare warranty service, included accessories and any optional connectivity module before treating the cheaper headline as the better offer. Ask for the mower’s product code and the matching manual on the quotation.

Maintenance and ownership

Inspect blades and screws, clean grass from the cutting area, and keep the sensing surfaces and charging contacts in the condition specified by the manual. Stop and isolate the mower as instructed before handling blades. After rain or rapid growth, check whether the mowing schedule still leaves the lawn evenly finished.

Budget for blade sets, possible connectivity service, storage and battery or wheel servicing over the ownership period. The optional Link module deserves a separate line: hardware purchase and ongoing data are not necessarily the same charge. Use actual garden results to decide blade replacement frequency rather than publishing a universal annual estimate.

LiDAX Ultra 1000 is attractive when setup simplicity and a modest lawn requirement align. If you need more traction or capacity, moving to a more appropriate mower can be better than asking this one to operate at the edge of every rating. Compare the usable mowing window, finished edges and local service together.

Questions about MOVA LiDAX Ultra 1000

Does LiDAX Ultra 1000 require a boundary wire or RTK antenna?

The cited model uses LiDAR and AI vision without either. You still need a suitable charging position, a verified lawn map and exclusion zones.

Is this an AWD mower?

No. This profile follows the rear-wheel-drive, non-AWD 1000. The LiDAX Ultra AWD range must be checked as a separate product.

Does 45% mean a 45-degree slope?

No. A 45% gradient is approximately 24 degrees. Wet ground, turning and boundary positions can reduce the practical margin, so assess the actual site.

Can it maintain a lawn larger than 0.25 acre because efficient mode claims 0.3 acre per day?

Those figures describe different things. The US 1000 mapping limit is 0.25 acre; the daily figure describes throughput under a selected mode. It does not raise the supported mapping limit.

How long does it mow before charging?

The US table lists 60–80 minutes of mowing and about 60 minutes for charging. Account for both when planning a daily schedule, plus travel and weather interruptions.

Can it automatically move between two isolated lawns?

Dual-map support saves separate areas, but the machine still needs a suitable physical path or manual transfer. Confirm how your particular layout is managed.

What should I check about the optional Link module?

Whether it is included, the hardware cost, what connectivity service is covered and the renewal price after any included period. Do not assume optional connectivity is permanently free.
