Best for
A sub-USD 1,000 Roomba with a hot-water washing dock and stain pretreatment spray. Check whether concentrate auto-dosing matters to you.

Buyers who want heated mist, the fastest roller or automatic concentrate dosing.
What the Roomba Plus 678 Combo is
The Plus 678 Combo shares the SealForce carpet airflow and AutoWash dock concept of the Max 875 Combo at a lower price. Instead of the 875's heated mist, it uses SprayForce AI, a high-pressure spray that pretreats stains before the roller reaches them.
Read the specifications correctly
iRobot lists 30,000 Pa suction, 18 L/s airflow and 15 N roller pressure. Its 40% mopping-efficiency claim compares the 678 with and without SprayForce, not with other brands. The release does not give a roller speed for this model; do not assume the 875's 300 rpm.

Shortlist the Plus 678 Combo for carpet-heavy homes that want a washing dock below USD 1,000 in the US. If stubborn kitchen stains are the priority, compare it with the 875's heated mist.

WCB interpretation: The 678 keeps iRobot's washing dock and carpet airflow at a lower price than the 875, well above Shark's entry robot in mop care.
Maintenance and ownership
The dock washes the roller with 176°F water, dries it with 131°F air and empties debris for up to 90 days. Automatic concentrate dosing is not listed for the 678, so plan to add cleaning solution manually if needed.
The hair-cutting main brush and anti-tangle edge brush reduce wrapping but should still be checked, and the spray nozzle should be kept clear.
