Chinese cleaning robot companies have begun moving beyond the indoor floor. Dreame sells robotic mowers and pool cleaners, ECOVACS has expanded its GOAT mower range, Roborock has introduced RockMow and RockNeo, and Anker’s eufy brand offers the E15 and E18 robotic mowers.
These are no longer concept demonstrations. They are official product lines with regional sales, manuals, apps and after-sales obligations.

Indoor robotics supplied the starting point
Robot-vacuum companies already understand simultaneous localization and mapping, obstacle perception, route planning, motor control, battery management, connected apps and charging stations. Those capabilities shorten the path into adjacent autonomous machines.
Roborock explicitly connected the two fields when it introduced the RockMow and RockNeo mower series in September 2025. The company said it was bringing experience in AI-powered navigation, precision control and intelligent automation from home robotics into lawn care. Its first range included the RockMow Z1, RockMow S1 and RockNeo Q1.
Dreame followed a similar route. Its A2 mower uses 3D LiDAR and an AI camera for mapping and obstacle avoidance, while its Z1 pool cleaner combines ultrasound, structured light, route planning and app records. ECOVACS transferred its mapping and AIVI obstacle-avoidance language from DEEBOT into the GOAT mower family. Eufy’s E15 and E18 use vision-based mapping and app-based multi-lawn management.

The engineering overlap is real, but it should not be exaggerated. A robot vacuum operates on a relatively flat indoor floor. A mower faces slopes, holes, mud, rain, pets, children, narrow passages and property boundaries. A pool cleaner works underwater, encounters chemicals and must be retrieved, charged and maintained safely.
The products reveal different technical bets
The first outdoor ranges show that there is no settled navigation standard.
- Dreame’s A2 combines 3D LiDAR with an AI camera and supports automated boundary setup.
- ECOVACS sells GOAT variants using panoramic perception, RTK or LiDAR, depending on model and market.
- Roborock’s mower range includes RTK, VSLAM, LiDAR and all-wheel-drive configurations.
- Eufy promotes a vision-led system for the E15 and E18 without boundary wires or a separate RTK station.
This variety is evidence of an early market. Each approach changes installation time, tree and building interference, night operation, obstacle recognition, component cost and the support burden carried by the seller.

Product specifications can look comparable while the user experience differs sharply. A mower that maps an open rectangular lawn successfully may struggle with tree cover, separate front and rear lawns or a narrow connecting path. A pool cleaner’s advertised coverage says little about retrieval, filter cleaning, waterline behavior or performance in an irregular pool.
The channel has to absorb more responsibility
Indoor robot vacuums can usually be unpacked and tested within minutes. Outdoor robots create more questions before and after the sale:
- Is the property suitable for the navigation system?
- Does setup require a wire, beacon, RTK station or only the app?
- Who helps when the map crosses a path, pool edge or neighboring property?
- Which blades, filters, brushes and batteries are stocked locally?
- Does warranty service require shipping the entire machine?
- Who carries product-liability and recall responsibility in the destination market?
These questions make dealers and service partners more important. Direct ecommerce can introduce a product and collect early feedback, but complex yards and pools often require advice that a product page cannot provide.
The company boundary also matters. A brand website, marketplace seller, regional importer and repair provider may be different legal entities. Buyers should identify the manufacturer, importer, contracting seller and warranty provider for each SKU rather than assuming the parent group performs every role.
Moving outdoors expands the addressable home
For cleaning robot companies, lawn and pool products offer higher selling prices and a longer seasonal operating cycle. They can also reuse apps, user accounts, AI teams, motors, batteries and supplier relationships.

The move nevertheless changes the competitive set. Roborock and Dreame no longer compete only with ECOVACS, iRobot or Narwal. In lawn care they meet Husqvarna, STIHL, Segway Navimow, Mammotion, Sunseeker and established garden-equipment dealers. In pools they meet Maytronics, Fluidra brands, Aiper, WYBOT and specialist pool channels.
The established companies bring years of dealer relationships, parts supply and knowledge of outdoor safety. The cleaning robot groups bring faster product cycles, perception technology and consumer-app experience. Neither advantage guarantees a durable position.
What buyers and distributors should watch
The next stage will be visible in operating evidence rather than launch volume.
- Regional assortment: whether products remain available for multiple seasons instead of disappearing after an initial launch.
- Parts and repair: whether blades, wheels, filters, batteries and electronic modules can be supplied locally.
- Installer and dealer support: whether brands can qualify properties before sale and resolve mapping problems after installation.
- Software continuity: whether apps, connectivity and firmware support remain usable throughout the product’s life.
- Safety and compliance: whether the manufacturer, importer and warranty entity are clearly documented for the exact market.
- Category economics: whether return rates and service costs leave enough margin for distributors and retailers.
Chinese cleaning robot companies have already proved that indoor autonomy can be carried into outdoor products. The harder test is whether their organizations can support machines exposed to weather, terrain, water and seasonal service demand. The winners will need a global operating system around the robot, not only a faster robot-development cycle.
