The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of selected Rowenta cordless vacuums on July 2, 2026, because their lithium-ion batteries could overheat and ignite. Approximately 3,660 units were included in the U.S. notice.

The CPSC recall notice identifies X-Force Flex 14.60 Animal model RH99A2U1 and X-Force Flex 15.60 Animal model RH99F2U1. The affected battery is ZR0097U2 with a date code beginning with 23 or 24. Batteries were sold both separately and with the cleaners, making the battery label an essential part of the check.

CPSC instructed owners to stop using affected vacuums, remove the recalled battery from the handle and register with Rowenta. Registration requires a photograph of the battery's model number and date code. Once eligibility is verified, the company provides a free replacement battery.

The notice records two overheating or charging reports and another 65 reports globally, with no injuries reported. Recalled batteries require special disposal handling: CPSC says they should not go into household trash, ordinary recycling or standard retail battery collection boxes. Owners should follow the notice and contact their local hazardous-waste service before disposal. The action concerns the listed batteries and configurations, rather than Rowenta's entire vacuum range.
