The European Union published a regulation on January 23, 2026 requiring registration of imports of robotic lawn mowers originating in China. The measure took effect the following day as part of the anti-dumping proceeding opened in November 2025.

The scope covers electric robotic mowers that cut grass without direct human control, whether supplied alone or with operating equipment. Charging stations, boundary wires and wireless navigation alternatives are included in the description of associated equipment. The regulation directs customs authorities to register the affected imports and provides for registration to expire after nine months.

Registration preserves the possibility of collecting duties retrospectively if a later decision and the relevant legal conditions support that outcome. It is a recording requirement, not the immediate imposition of a new anti-dumping charge. Future liability would depend on the investigation's findings and the rules governing any definitive measures.

The regulation referred to estimates contained in the original complaint but said the Commission could not yet estimate possible future liability. Those complaint figures were therefore not adopted tariff rates. The January action established the import-registration stage of the case, leaving the existence and amount of any eventual duty to a later decision.
