GE Appliances and IUE-CWA announced a USD 1 billion investment programme for Appliance Park in Louisville on September 2, 2026. The company release described a reorganization of laundry production across three buildings at the Kentucky site.

More than USD 400 million would convert Building 5 to high-output dryer manufacturing, transferring production from Mexico. Approximately USD 112 million was assigned to equipment and redesigned washer and dryer platforms in Building 1. The programme also included a previously announced USD 490 million investment in Building 2 for front-load washers and combination washer-dryers.

GE Appliances said refrigeration production in Building 5 would conclude in early 2027, with the new dryer operation beginning late that year. Building 2 production was also scheduled to begin in 2027. The investment announcement therefore described a sequence of manufacturing changes rather than completed production transfers.

The company said the combined programme would help secure approximately 4,700 production jobs once fully implemented. Those are supported site jobs, not a claim that 4,700 additional positions had been created. GE Appliances, part of Haier, presented the plan as a way to concentrate laundry manufacturing and bring design, engineering and production teams closer together.
