Who Owns Husqvarna? Automower, Motorcycles and Manufacturing Explained

Who owns Husqvarna Automower? Learn how Husqvarna AB, major shareholders, licensed brands, factories and regional warranties differ.

By Denny You

Key Points
  • Husqvarna Automower belongs to Husqvarna AB, the Swedish listed company operating as Husqvarna Group; it is not owned by Electrolux, Bosch, KTM or Bajaj.
  • Investor AB was the largest shareholder by votes at the end of 2025, but Husqvarna AB has no single corporate parent and its capital and voting rights are distributed differently across A- and B-shares.
  • Husqvarna Group identifies robotic-lawnmower manufacturing teams in Aycliffe, England, and Mielec, Poland; the exact factory, origin, seller and warranty route still require SKU- and market-level verification.
Who Owns Husqvarna? Automower, Motorcycles and Manufacturing Explained

Husqvarna Automower is owned by Husqvarna AB (publ), the Swedish listed company that operates as Husqvarna Group. Husqvarna AB is not a subsidiary of Electrolux, Bosch, KTM or Bajaj. It is publicly traded on Nasdaq Stockholm and has multiple shareholders rather than one corporate parent.

The name becomes confusing because Husqvarna also appears on motorcycles and sewing machines. Those businesses were divested and now use the Husqvarna name under licensing arrangements. They do not own the outdoor-equipment company or the Automower business.

For procurement, one more distinction matters: Husqvarna AB, a regional Husqvarna company, the trademark owner, the invoice seller, the importer, the warranty route and the physical Automower factory can be different parts of the same transaction.

Husqvarna Ownership and Responsibility at a Glance

Question Evidence-based answer Important boundary
Who owns Husqvarna Automower? Husqvarna AB (publ), through Husqvarna Group and its Forest & Garden business Automower is a product brand, not a separate listed company
Who owns Husqvarna AB? Public shareholders; there is no single corporate parent The largest shareholder is not the same as a wholly owning parent company
Is Husqvarna owned by Electrolux? No. Electrolux distributed the Husqvarna shares to its shareholders and Husqvarna became independently listed in 2006 Historical ownership should not be presented as the current structure
Does Bosch own Husqvarna? No. Robert Bosch held 12.0% of capital but 4.5% of votes at the end of 2025 A material shareholding is not group control or full ownership
Is Husqvarna Motorcycles the same company? No. The motorcycle operation was divested and the brand is currently licensed to Bajaj Mobility AG; KTM AG operates the motorcycle business That licensed business does not own Automower
Who owns Husqvarna Viking sewing machines? SVP Worldwide operates HUSQVARNA VIKING under a Husqvarna brand license SVP Worldwide does not own Husqvarna outdoor equipment
Who makes Automower? Husqvarna Group develops and manufactures the robotic-mower range; Husqvarna AB is named in reviewed product-compliance records The legal manufacturer or declarant is not automatically the assembly plant
Where are Husqvarna robotic mowers made? Husqvarna Group currently identifies manufacturing teams in Aycliffe, England, and Mielec, Poland The exact site and origin should be checked for the SKU and batch
Who provides the warranty? The applicable Husqvarna regional company and authorized service route, subject to the local product and policy Warranty terms differ by country, model, use and sales channel

Who Owns Husqvarna and Automower?

The parent company behind the outdoor-equipment business is Husqvarna AB (publ). The company uses Husqvarna Group as its group identity and organizes the main business through Husqvarna Forest & Garden, Gardena and Husqvarna Construction.

Husqvarna Group’s 2025 annual report describes robotic lawn mowers as one of the group’s main product categories. They represented about 17% of group sales in 2025, making robotics far more than a small experimental product line.

The practical ownership chain is:

Husqvarna AB (publ) / Husqvarna Group → Husqvarna Forest & Garden → Husqvarna Automower

Husqvarna AB owns the business at group level, but it is itself owned by public shareholders. There is no higher corporate parent that can be named as the sole owner.

Who Are Husqvarna’s Largest Shareholders?

Husqvarna has two share classes, which is why capital ownership and voting control do not match.

The 2025 annual report says each A-share carries one vote and each B-share carries one-tenth of a vote. At December 31, 2025, the largest disclosed holdings were:

Shareholder Share of capital Share of votes What the figure means
Investor AB 16.8% 33.9% Largest shareholder by voting rights
Robert Bosch 12.0% 4.5% Large capital holding, but much lower voting share
L E Lundbergföretagen 7.7% 25.8% Second-largest shareholder by voting rights
Other institutions and public shareholders Remaining capital and votes Distributed Husqvarna remains a listed company with dispersed ownership

Investor AB therefore has the largest voting position, but “Investor owns Husqvarna” is incomplete if it implies 100% ownership or a normal parent-subsidiary relationship. The same applies to Bosch and Lundberg.

The Bosch holding is an especially useful warning for supplier research. A database may show Bosch as a major shareholder and an AI answer may convert that into “Bosch owns Husqvarna.” The official table does not support that conclusion. Bosch held more capital than Lundberg, while Lundberg had far more voting power because the share classes were different.

Is Husqvarna Still Owned by Electrolux?

No.

Electrolux acquired Husqvarna in 1978, and Husqvarna’s outdoor-products operations later became an Electrolux business segment. That is the source of many old corporate descriptions still circulating online.

The relationship changed in 2006. Electrolux proposed distributing all shares in Husqvarna AB to Electrolux shareholders, and Husqvarna was then listed independently in Stockholm. Husqvarna’s own history now describes 2006 as the year it became independent again.

The accurate current answer is:

  • Electrolux is part of Husqvarna’s ownership history.
  • Electrolux is not the current parent company of Husqvarna AB.
  • An old manual, article or company profile may still reflect the pre-2006 structure.

For B2B due diligence, always date the relationship. “Was once owned by” and “is owned by” are materially different statements.

Is Husqvarna Group the Same as Husqvarna Motorcycles?

No. They share a name and history, but they are not the same operating business.

Husqvarna began producing motorcycles in 1903. The motorcycle operation was divested in 1987. Husqvarna Group’s current history timeline says the Husqvarna brand is now licensed to Bajaj Mobility AG for motorcycles.

Bajaj Mobility’s current group-company page says KTM AG brings the KTM, Husqvarna Motorcycles and GASGAS brands together in its powered-two-wheeler business.

That creates two different statements that must not be mixed:

  1. Husqvarna AB owns and operates the Husqvarna outdoor-equipment and Automower business.
  2. Bajaj Mobility/KTM operates Husqvarna-branded motorcycles through a licensed brand relationship.

The motorcycle company is not Automower’s parent, manufacturer, seller or warranty provider. A search result about Bajaj acquiring or controlling Husqvarna motorcycles does not answer who owns a Husqvarna robotic mower.

What About Husqvarna Viking Sewing Machines?

The sewing-machine relationship follows another licensing route.

Husqvarna produced sewing machines from 1872 until the operation was divested in 1997. The group’s official history says it now licenses the brand to SVP Worldwide. SVP Worldwide’s company page lists SINGER, HUSQVARNA VIKING and PFAFF as its three principal sewing brands.

The result is a three-way identity split:

Product category Current operating system Relationship to Husqvarna AB
Automower, chainsaws and outdoor equipment Husqvarna AB / Husqvarna Group Core group business
Husqvarna motorcycles Bajaj Mobility / KTM motorcycle system Licensed Husqvarna brand
HUSQVARNA VIKING sewing machines SVP Worldwide Licensed Husqvarna brand

Brand licensing is not corporate ownership. It gives another company defined rights to use the brand for specified products, territories and services. It does not transfer the Automower business to that licensee.

Who Owns the Husqvarna and Automower Trademarks?

Reviewed public trademark records identify Husqvarna AB as the owner of core Husqvarna marks used for outdoor products.

For example, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office lists Husqvarna AB as the registered owner of a live HUSQVARNA design mark. Its goods and services span several categories, including lawn equipment, robotic lawn mowers, motorcycles and sewing machines. That wide specification is consistent with a brand owner licensing selected categories to other businesses.

U.S. trademark records for AUTOMOWER, including serial number 85430323, also identify Husqvarna AB. Buyers conducting legal diligence should still check the USPTO record and the destination country’s official register at the time of the transaction.

One registration is not a worldwide legal opinion. Verify:

  • the word mark and logo separately;
  • the exact product and service classes;
  • the current owner and assignment history;
  • the destination country;
  • distributor rights for products, parts, packaging, advertising and online marketplaces;
  • whether a license covers the requested category and territory.

Who Makes Husqvarna Automower?

Husqvarna Group is the company system that develops, manufactures and commercializes Automower robotic lawn mowers.

At the legal and product-compliance level, Husqvarna AB appears directly. A reviewed EU Declaration of Conformity for Automower 535 AWD is issued by Husqvarna AB in Sweden and identifies the responsible technical-documentation function within Husqvarna Forest & Garden.

That document is strong evidence for the named model’s compliance responsibility. It is not a certificate that the mower was physically assembled at the Swedish corporate address.

The word “manufacturer” can refer to several different layers:

Manufacturing layer Husqvarna example Evidence needed
Group manufacturer Husqvarna Group Annual report and corporate product information
Legal manufacturer or declarant Husqvarna AB on reviewed EU documentation Declaration, label, manual and technical file
Product-development organization Robotics teams in Huskvarna and wider group functions Official engineering and company disclosures
Physical assembly factory Aycliffe or Mielec for robotic-lawnmower production SKU, batch, nameplate, origin and factory records
Component supplier Battery, charger, power supply, electronics and mechanical parts BOM, supplier declaration and change-control records

This distinction matters because a company can be the legal manufacturer while using several internal plants and external component suppliers.

Where Are Husqvarna Automowers Made?

There is no defensible single-country answer for every current Automower.

Husqvarna Group’s current Global Presence page describes a distributed robotics organization:

  • global design teams in Stockholm, Sweden;
  • robotic-development teams in Huskvarna, Sweden;
  • robotic-lawnmower manufacturing teams in Aycliffe, England, and Mielec, Poland.

The group has a long British production history. An official 2015 announcement recorded the 500,000th robotic mower produced at its UK plant, and Husqvarna UK later reported that Newton Aycliffe began manufacturing the flagship robotic-mower product in 2006.

Those facts establish real manufacturing capability, but they do not prove that every 2026 model, region code, charging station or accessory comes from the same site. Current official information names more than one robotics manufacturing location.

The safest sourcing answer is:

Husqvarna Group manufactures robotic lawn mowers through operations that include Aycliffe in England and Mielec in Poland. Verify the exact factory and country of origin for the SKU and batch rather than assigning every Automower to one country.
Husqvarna Automower design, development, manufacturing and regional responsibility map showing Sweden, England, Poland and market-level verification.

For an order or customs filing, check the mower and its accessories separately. The robot, charging station, battery, power supply, EPOS reference station and connectivity hardware may not have identical origin or certification records.

Why Automower Matters Inside Husqvarna Group

Automower is not a licensed side business like motorcycles or sewing machines. It is a core Husqvarna Group product category.

The 2025 annual report reported:

  • group net sales of SEK 46.613 billion;
  • robotic lawn mowers equal to approximately 17% of group sales;
  • 13 new boundary-wire-free robotic mower models, described as the group’s largest robotic-mower launch to date;
  • growth in the Forest & Garden division driven partly by robotic mowers;
  • continued investment in professional robotics, service, parts, subscriptions and remote support.

This changes the B2B reading of the brand. Husqvarna is not merely attaching an old outdoor-equipment name to a third-party robot. Robotics is a substantial internal business supported by engineering, manufacturing, dealers, installation, parts and service infrastructure.

That structure differs from newer entrants covered in World Clean Biz’s guides to LUBA and MAMMOTION and Segway Navimow. Those companies come from newer robotics or mobility systems; Husqvarna enters the competition with a much older professional outdoor-equipment and dealer base.

Which Husqvarna Company Sells or Supports Automower?

The answer changes by market and channel.

United States

The official U.S. site’s imprint identifies Husqvarna Professional Products, Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina. The U.S. warranty page routes service through authorized Husqvarna workshops and requires reliable proof of purchase, including the date, model, serial number and dealer information.

That establishes an important regional entity and service route. It does not prove that every dealer purchase, marketplace order or institutional contract has the same invoice seller.

Canada

The Canadian site identifies Husqvarna Canada Corp. in its legal imprint. Import, sale and warranty roles should still be checked against the invoice, product label, dealer authorization and applicable policy.

United Kingdom

Official UK materials identify Husqvarna UK Limited for activities including local finance and lease products. Warranty offers can also be model- and campaign-specific. For example, a 2026 UK offer provided extended coverage for selected Automower models only when purchase and registration conditions were met within stated dates.

The campaign is a useful illustration: even inside one brand, warranty duration can depend on model, country, purchase period, registration, customer type and channel.

European Union and other markets

Husqvarna AB may appear as the legal manufacturer or conformity declarant, while a local subsidiary, distributor or dealer handles the sale, import and service. Those are compatible roles, not contradictory company names.

For every market, separate:

  1. trademark owner;
  2. legal manufacturer or conformity declarant;
  3. physical factory;
  4. exporter and importer;
  5. invoice seller;
  6. authorized dealer or installer;
  7. app and connected-service provider;
  8. warranty issuer and servicing workshop.

What Does Husqvarna Ownership Mean for B2B Buyers?

Husqvarna’s public-company structure provides more disclosure than a private robot startup, but it does not remove transaction-level due diligence.

Shareholders do not grant channel rights

A relationship with Bosch, Investor or another Husqvarna shareholder does not authorize a distributor to sell Automower. Distribution authority must come from the relevant Husqvarna entity or an authorized channel and must cover the territory, models and sales channels in question.

A brand license is category-specific

A motorcycle or sewing-machine license does not cover robotic mowers, spare parts or Automower advertising. Buyers should never accept a generic “Husqvarna authorization” without checking the product classes and issuing entity.

Manufacturing must be verified below the group level

The official two-country robotics manufacturing footprint is more precise than “made by a Swedish company,” but it is still not enough for customs or product-origin claims. Model, revision and batch evidence must match the shipment.

Dealer and service capability are part of the product

Robotic mowers require installation, mapping, connectivity, blades, batteries, winter service, diagnostics and long-term parts support. Husqvarna’s traditional dealer network is commercially important, especially for professional turf and higher-value installations.

World Clean Biz’s analysis of robotic mowers moving into outdoor-power-equipment channels explains why a robot’s service system can matter as much as its navigation specification.

Grey-market imports create hidden responsibility gaps

A mower may be genuine but still be unsuitable for the destination market. Check charger voltage, radio approvals, cellular connectivity, EPOS availability, app region, subscription terms, replacement parts and local warranty eligibility before importing across regions.

Husqvarna Automower Procurement Checklist

Before approving a dealership, commercial purchase or cross-border order, verify:

  1. Contracting company: full legal name, registration number, address and bank beneficiary.
