Market-share calculations need a de-duplicated numerator and a compatible denominator. Public milestone releases rarely provide both.

Utilization shows whether customers are likely to expand rather than store the machine. Renewal and multi-site growth provide stronger evidence than a large pipeline of short pilots.

The supplier should also separate first-time adoption from replacement. A mature installed base creates service and replacement demand, while a young market depends more heavily on deployment support. Combining both can hide whether new customers are entering the category.
