a.Denny’s personal introduction (give me a blow)

Welcome to the most comprehensive hard floor washer purchasing guide in history. After reading this article, basically everyone should have no doubts about how to choose a hard floor washer. If a new hard floor washer comes out in the future, Denny will evaluate it and update it here as soon as possible.

First of all, Denny will briefly introduce himself, not to brag about himself, but to show my professionalism and save everyone's communication costs.

Danny You has been engaged in foreign trade sales in the vacuum cleaner industry for 16 years. He has personally sold more than one million vacuum cleaners. He is very familiar with the brands, OEMs and parts manufacturers in the global vacuum cleaner industry. Since 2018, he has written hundreds of articles about the cleaning appliance industry and is the most famous influencer in cleaning appliances. In 2019, he organized several industry gatherings, and hundreds of people paid to attend each time.

Currently, I am still starting a business in the cleaning appliance industry. In my spare time, I do industry consulting and analysis for many securities companies and investment banks (offline fee is 5,000/hour, online fee is 3,000/hour). The topics I communicate with securities companies on a daily basis are probably of this type.

(brokerage picture)

At the same time, I spent millions to buy many vacuum cleaner products for daily research and study.

b.hard floor washer industry introduction

Hard floor washers are currently the most popular industry in the entire cleaning appliance and even home appliance industry. Since the Tineco brand became popular in May 2020, the stock of the entire Ecovacs Group has increased 12 times, making the Tineco brand from obscurity to sales of billions a year, and making everyone crazy about this product.

But everyone in the industry knows that the inventor of the real hard floor washer is the American Bissell brand (Bissell). I wrote an article in 2019 to introduce the popularity of Bissell hard floor washer. (99% of people in 2019 did not know what a hard floor washer was)

Article image 1

c.hard floor washer function and introduction, advantages and disadvantages (who is suitable to buy hard floor washer)

It is not surprising that the hard floor washer was invented by Bissell, because Bissell has always been a famous cleaning appliance brand in the United States, and is the No. 1 in the category of water-based cleaning products (water machines) in North America. The hard floor washer originally started with a carpet cleaning machine, and then changed the roller brush part to a velvet roller brush according to the characteristics of wooden floors in the Chinese market.

(Carpet cleaning machine--hard floor washer picture)

Current advantages of hard floor washer:

All dry and wet garbage can be passed through in one pass, and the mopping module is suitable for the Chinese market. The self-cleaning module makes subsequent cleaning of the roller brush easier.

But the hard floor washer is not as popularized by some big Vs. It completely solves all problems. Currently, the main problems are as follows:

  1. Water stains. Since the water pump of the hard floor washer is continuously injected into the roller brush, this can realize real-time running water cleaning of stains on the roller brush. The disadvantage is that the roller brush is always wet, so the ground will always be wet. (You can imagine the feeling of wiping the floor with a wet towel). When we were live broadcasting before, many friends bought hard floor washers of various brands, and some of them were returned due to water damage.

Solution: Most brands have little difference in water stains. The double roller brush will have more water stains. The reason is also very simple: the contact area is larger.

  1. The roller brush does not dry and smells bad. The current material of the roller brush is velvet. After mopping the floor and self-cleaning, the roller brush becomes relatively wet. In some areas, if the roller brush does not dry easily during the rainy season, some odor will be produced. This is also an area where there are more complaints.

Solution: Currently, there are two main solutions used in the industry: 1. High-speed rotation and centrifugal drying. The motor is active at high speed and uses a scraper to scrape the water dry. 2. Low-temperature and low-speed drying. Through a separate drying speed, warm air is blown out at low speed to dry the roller brush.

The effects of these two solutions are almost the same, and the effect will be better than the original one without drying. Of course, there are also some brands, such as Fangtai Mibo, which use a roller-free design, so there is no problem of smelly roller brushes.

  1. How to choose between double roller brush and single roller brush?

Some readers may think that the cleaning power of the double roller brush is stronger than that of the single roller brush. But in fact, in our test, the cleaning power of the double roller brush is not stronger than that of the single roller brush. In actual use, the overall performance of the single roller brush is actually better. The advantage of the double roller brush is that the two roller brushes are relatively rolling, so the machine with double roller brushes has backward assistance when moving forward, making it relatively easier to pull.

4.How to choose the motor of hard floor washer?

Most of the hard floor washer motors currently on the market are around 250W-350W. Most hard floor washers are used in hard floors and the use environment is relatively simple. Therefore, the suction power of a brushless motor of around 250W is enough to balance the suction power and battery life. A larger motor power requires a larger battery, which will significantly increase the cost and the weight of the machine.

Similar to DreameM12 and M13, the dust bucket assembly can be removed and turned into a vacuum cleaner. When the suction power needs to be adjusted, a 350W brushless motor is used. However, everyone needs to note that even with a 350W motor, the power of a hard floor washer is only 250W in daily use.

At the same time, the motors used by most hard floor washer manufacturers are produced by the same supplier, and there is basically no difference. So you don’t need to worry too much about this, a 250W motor is enough.

In addition: some cheap models like MideaX7 or DeermaVX100 use ordinary brushed motors for cost reasons (the cost is about 2-3 times worse, and the performance is also quite different). How to look at the difference between brushed motors and brushless motors, try to choose brushless motors. Let me teach you a simpler method. Generally, the speed of brushed motors will not exceed 50,000 rpm.

Article image 2
Article image 3

Summary: As long as you choose a brushless motor, there will not be much difference in performance.

  1. Intelligentization of hard floor washer

At present, the intelligence promoted by hard floor washers is all about various cool screen animations, which are quite impressive. From the actual situation, these screens do not bring any benefits to consumers, but bring more cost increases. When choosing hard floor washers, this aspect does not require too much attention.

(Screenshots of each brand)

Summary: The screen and most intelligent functions do not have much effect on the hard floor washer and can be ignored when choosing.

  1. Is electrolyzed water/sterilizing solution useful?

Since Tineco first proposed the concept of sterilizing liquid/electrolyzed water, tap water is electrolyzed into hypochlorous acid and then sterilized and disinfected. Now high-end models have basically come standard with this function. Many people have also asked me, is this function taxing IQ and simply bluffing? First of all, this function has a certain effect, but it is also limited.

Mainly in two aspects:

  1. It takes time to prepare electrolyzed water. In many cases, you may just pick it up and use it a few times. At this time, the electrolyzed water may not have been generated yet.
  1. The sterilization effect of electrolyzed water is limited. One is that there will be some loss in the intermediate effect due to the long distance from the clean water tank to the roller brush.
  1. Electrolyzed water is effective against some bacteria, while others are not.

Summary: The effect of electrolyzed water/sterilizing liquid is limited, and there is no need to worry too much about this function. What really achieves efficient sterilization and disinfection are the disinfectants that come with each brand. This kind of chemical disinfection has been used in the United States for decades, and has been certified for both safety and effectiveness.

  1. How to choose between single edge and double edge brushing?

First of all, it is clear that using single edge is definitely better than using no edge, and double edge is better than single edge. But the effect is limited.

First of all, the ones along the edge only work for cleaning the corners. If there is some dry garbage in the corner, it can be sucked in regardless of whether there is a hard floor washer along the edge. However, when mopping the floor, machines without edges may not be able to mop a small part.

The current mid-to-high-end machines are basically equipped with edge edges as standard, and there is no increase in price when the volume is increased.

  1. Can 84 disinfectant or dishwashing liquid be used on hard floor washers?

Many friends asked me that I spent more than 3,000 to buy a hard floor washer. I feel a little distressed if the subsequent consumables are so expensive to buy. Can I just use dishwashing liquid and 84 disinfectant at home? According to our actual tests, dishwashing liquid and 84 disinfectant cannot be added directly to the hard floor washer. The main difference in pH will cause damage to the plastic parts in the hard floor washer.

Even the cleaning solutions between different brands of hard floor washers cannot be used universally because of their different pH levels.

Summary: In the short term, cleaning fluids cannot be used casually. When the subsequent industry matures, it is estimated that the cost of cleaning fluids will drop significantly.

d. Hard floor washer brand introduction (Tineco, Dreame, Uwant, Haier, etc., Midea)

The current popularity of hard floor washers in China will only start in 2020, so it will only take 2 years for the entire industry to truly develop. At present, the following brands are doing relatively well:

Tineco: Tineco is currently the leader in the hard floor washer industry. It is currently the most leading in the entire industry in terms of market share, product richness and marketing channels. From a technical perspective in the industry, Tineco will not have any opponents in 2020 and 2021, and will basically kill its competitors in an instant. By 2022, because the technology has almost developed, other brands will start to catch up, so the technical lead will be limited.

(Tineco product line picture)

Bissell: Bissell is the inventor of the hard floor washer. The hard floor washer products before 2019 were selling well abroad. In 2020 and 2021, Bissell was once the second place in the Chinese hard floor washer market. The reason is also very simple. At that time, there were hard floor washers on the market. There were not many washer brands, so Bissell's sales were pretty good at the time. Bissell's current products were basically imported directly from the American market, so they have more muscular lines in shape. At the same time, there are big differences between its roller brushes and several domestic brands. Its roller brushes are more suitable for use in carpeted environments and are not suitable for the hard floor environment of the Chinese market. After a large number of other brands came on the market this year, Bissell's sales declined more seriously.

The current problem with Bissell is that the electrolyzed water popular in the Chinese market basically does not have the edge of the roller brush, and the water stains are also relatively large.

(Bissell product line picture)

Dreame: Dreame is a Xiaomi ecological chain enterprise. Since 2019, Dreame has exploded in the field of cleaning appliances. In just 4 years, it has achieved sales of 4 billion. Last year, it raised 3.6 billion in financing and had a valuation of 17 billion. Dreame’s overall style is relatively radical, and its product follow-up speed is relatively fast. Currently on the hard floor In the washer product line, the number of Dreame's products has begun to exceed that of Tineco. At the same time, due to its heavy investment in Douyin, Dreame's current sales have surpassed Tineco's and become the number one on Douyin.

(Dreame product line picture)

Midea Group: At present, Midea Group mainly has two brands of cleaning appliances: Midea and Yourica. At present, Midea focuses on machines in the mid- to low-price range.

(Midea product line picture)

Shunzao: Shunzao is also an enterprise in the Xiaomi ecological chain. It raised US$50 million last year. At present, Xiaomi Mijia's hard floor washer is mainly manufactured by Shunzao. Shunzao now has two types of hard floor washers. One is a high-temperature hard floor washer and the other is a hard floor washer that can lie flat.

(Shunzao product line picture)

Uwant: Uwant is also a cleaning appliance brand that has become popular this year. It has received investment from Hillhouse Capital. Currently, the representative brand of double-roller hard floor washer is

(Uwant product line picture)

Roborock: Roborock is the leader in the robot vacuum industry. It is listed on the A-share Science and Technology Innovation Board, and its market value was once close to 100 billion. It has strong product strength in robot vacuum. In 2021, it also released a double roller brush hard floor washer U10.

(Roborock product line picture)

Deerma: Deerma is also an industry-leading small home appliance brand in the field of small home appliances. It will be officially listed on the A-share market in 2022. Currently, Deerma is also doing some OEM work for Xiaomi's Mijia in the cleaning category. Currently, Deerma is also making significant efforts in hard floor washers, with its main focus on low-priced product lines.

(Deerma product line picture)

Haier: Haier is a national home appliance brand. In the past two years, it has also made great efforts in the field of hard floor washers. At one time, the sales volume of hard floor washers on Douyin ranked first.
