When I wrote the article a few years ago, not many people paid attention to the vacuum cleaner, so at that time, I still needed to popularize a lot of basic knowledge. After several years of development, the industry structure has changed a lot, and new players and new technologies are constantly coming out. The core of the vacuum cleaner is mainly in three parts, the motor, the battery and the electronic control.

After several years of development, the current domestic products have begun to catch up with the original industry leader Dyson in terms of motor performance. Judging from the difference between motors and batteries, the difference is not very big.

The current landscape of vacuum cleaners has also changed from being dominated by foreign brands to dominated by domestic brands.

Introduction to c.vacuum cleaner types

Vacuum cleaners are mainly divided into horizontal vacuum cleaners, vertical vacuum cleaners, push rod vacuum cleaners, barrel vacuum cleaners, cordless handheld vacuum cleaners, robot vacuums, and hard floor washers. Robot vacuums and hard floor washers have relatively large changes in technology and layout, so I will write about them separately later.

Horizontal vacuum cleaner: The previous mainstream vacuum cleaner outside the North American market. Most of the vacuum cleaners we exported to Europe were this type of vacuum cleaner. The characteristic of this vacuum cleaner is that it is corded and cheap. When we exported in the past, the ex-factory price was mostly more than 10-20 US dollars, and the foreign retail price was about 20-40 US dollars. Because it was not convenient to use, in the era of cordless vacuum cleaners, it has been gradually replaced by wireless in the market. Later, in the era of high-speed brushless motors, coupled with high-performance lithium batteries, the portable vacuum cleaner appeared. The suction power was relatively strong and could be used casually.

Car-mounted vacuum cleaner: Car-mounted vacuum cleaner is also a small subdivision of vacuum cleaner. There are two main power sources. 1. Plug in the cigarette lighter. 2. Use lithium batteries.

Horizontal vacuum cleaner: This is not recommended. If you must buy it, it is recommended that the price does not exceed 300 yuan. Early horizontal vacuum cleaners such as Dyson, Miele, and Vorwerk cost several thousand yuan. Now they are not as convenient to use as cordless handheld models.

Vertical vacuum cleaner: It is large in size and very inconvenient to use. Basically, there are no brands producing this kind of vertical vacuum cleaner in China. It is not recommended to buy it.

Push rod vacuum cleaner: Generally, the motor does not exceed 400-600W, with wires, and the price does not exceed 200 yuan. Basically, the performance is not much different in all aspects. Key points for selection: the price is below 200, choose the style you like, the motor should not be lower than 400W, otherwise the suction power will not be enough.

Bucket vacuum cleaner: There are two points when choosing a bucket vacuum cleaner. The power is generally 1000-1400W. The greater the power, the greater the suction power, and the volume of the bucket. The technical difficulty of the bucket vacuum cleaner is not high, so you don’t need to buy too expensive when purchasing. Because the bucket vacuum cleaner uses a wet and dry motor, the noise will be much louder than an ordinary motor.

Cordless handheld vacuum cleaner: Cordless handheld vacuum cleaner is currently the most mainstream in the industry, and it is also a battleground for various brands. The price also ranges from 5,000 for Dyson to more than 500 for domestic products. So how should you choose? Cordless handheld vacuum cleaner The core of the cleaner is a high-speed brushless motor with a speed ranging from 60,000 to 160,000 rpm. The two most important functions in the vacuum cleaner industry at present were invented by Dyson: the cyclone system and the wireless high-speed motor (called brushless motor in the industry). In the past few years, Dyson’s vacuum cleaner also had the highest sales, the most expensive price and the best performance in the entire industry. Dyson is in the vacuum cleaner industry. The position in the cleaner industry is somewhat similar to Apple's position in the mobile phone industry. In the past two years, competitors have caught up, so Dyson's advantage is not as great as before. Some subsequent products also have many deviations in the technical route, and no one in the industry pays much attention to it.

Dyson's advantage lies in the brushless motor. In the early days, it was basically 2-3 years ahead of the industry. Now the difference in the parameters of the optical motor is not too big. However, among high-priced brands, Dyson is still more recommended than other brands such as Electrolux and Miele.

Dreame: Dreame is a Xiaomi ecosystem company. Starting from 2019, Dreame has made a big breakthrough in cleaning appliances. The first cordless vacuum cleaner sold for 700 million in the first year it was launched, which should have also created an industry miracle. In just 4 years, it has achieved sales of 4 billion. It raised 3.6 billion last year and was valued at 17 billion. Dreame’s investment in motors is still relatively huge. The V16 motor released last year reached a speed of 160,000 rpm, and in the mass-produced vacuum cleaner motors, it surpassed Dyson.

At present, Dreame's products are basically benchmarked against Dyson, and the price is cheaper. As Dyson's replacement, Dreame's vacuum cleaner has good performance and workmanship. In fact, in the industry, Dreame's vacuum cleaner is still good.

Puppy: As the first generation Tao brand, all the Tao brands named after Puppy have basically disappeared, leaving only Puppy. The reason is simple. As a practitioner of cleaning appliances, Puppy has been in this industry for many years and has continuously invested in research and development. Among domestic vacuum cleaners, Puppy's products are still worth recommending.

Midea: As a giant in the small home appliance industry, Midea has sales of hundreds of billions. It has strong popularity and sales channels. Basically, Midea can reach the top three or first place in the small home appliance industry. Since Midea acquired Chunhua Electric Appliances more than 10 years ago, Midea has continued to expand. It has successively acquired foreign brands such as Toshiba, Youra, and Sharp, and invested a lot of energy and resources in cleaning appliances. At present, Midea also has a great influence in the cleaning appliance industry. Especially in the mid-to-low-end models, other companies cannot compete with Midea.

Supor: Supor is a giant in small kitchen appliances. In terms of small kitchen appliances, it is also competing with Midea. In the field of cleaning appliances in recent years, Supor has also invested a huge amount of money. Supor's advantages are firstly fast execution, and secondly, money, so it soon occupied a large market in the mid-to-low-end vacuum cleaners. Currently, most of the mid-to-low-end vacuum cleaners are occupied by Midea and Supor.

Foreign brands: Electrolux, Philips, Miele, Panasonic, Bosch, Siemens, Vorwerk and other foreign brands have basically been losing ground in China's vacuum cleaner industry in recent years. They have lagged behind domestic brands in terms of product performance, price and functions. I personally do not recommend these brands. Foreign brands currently only recommend Dyson, and the remaining domestic brands are already doing well.

Tineco: Tineco, formerly TEK, was an OEM giant in the vacuum cleaner industry in the early years, and later transformed into its own brand. Ecovacs first started with its own brand of robot vacuum and went on the market. Tineco is a brand of smart home appliances under Ecovacs. In the past two years, Tineco has exploded the industry with its hard floor washer, but before the hard floor washer became popular, Tineco mainly promoted the smart handheld vacuum cleaner. However, in smart vacuum In terms of cleaners, Tineco did not find a breakthrough point. Instead, it excelled in hard floor washers.

Lake: Lake is a domestic OEM giant and a listed company. Lake is relatively leading in manufacturing, quality control and motor manufacturing. Because in terms of OEM, Lake's capabilities exceed other companies in the industry. Since the financial crisis in 2008, Lake has started its own brand "LEXY", which is positioned as a high-end brand and the price is relatively high-end.

Shark: Shark is the number one brand in sales in North America and has the largest shipments in North America. Later, it was acquired by Joyoung in 2019. I wrote this article in 2019, which also caused a lot of spread in the industry. Later, Shark also tried to sell in the domestic market and introduced some hot-selling foreign models into the country. However, due to the differences between domestic and foreign markets, Shark's products are more suitable for North America, but are more general in China.

IQ Tax Foreign Brands: There are also some companies that buy licenses from foreign brands, and then re-brand some product models in the supply chain, taking advantage of everyone's favorable impression of foreign brands, and selling them for 2-3 times the price of domestic brands.
